Iraqis capture suspected terrorist leaders
Tuesday, March 16, 2010
.
Iraqi Police arrested three suspected terrorists, two of whom are believed to be al-Qaida in Iraq leaders, in two March 13 operations, military officials report.
.
In Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad, Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors searched two buildings for a suspected AQI leader who allegedly provides financial support, explosives and weapons to numerous terrorist cells operating in the region.
.
The building in which the wanted individual was found also contained a hidden room where the security team discovered several AK-47 assault rifles and cases of ammunition.
.
After conducting preliminary questioning and examining the evidence collected at the scene, Iraqi forces identified and arrested the wanted man and a suspected criminal associate.
.
During a second operation in southwestern Baghdad, Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors searched a building for a suspected mid-level AQI leader who is believed to have helped in planning past high-profile vehicle-bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital. Information and evidence gathered during the operation led Iraqi Security Forces to identify and arrest the wanted man.

Taking a Moment to Honor our Fallen Heroes

Today... I would like to
Take a Moment to Honor our Fallen HeroesSince that tragic day on 9-11-2001… many of our bravest have given their all while fighting for this great country of ours. Please take a moment to thank them, in your own way, for all they have done and were willing to do for you -- me and this great country of ours. May God bless each and every one of these fallen Heroes, all of those who have been wounded, all of their families, friends, loved ones and their comrades in arms who were at their side.
.....
Never forget those that protect us -- Each and every day...

Health Care Reform - March 08, 2010

Health Care Reform:
It is time for action, Patriots!
Monday, March 08, 2010
.
What will the Health Care Reform Bill do?
.
Cuts $500 billion from Medicare
.
Forces rationing of health care
.
Raises income taxes to 43% from 35% and capital gains taxes to 22.5% from 15%
.
Forces the American people to pay, on average, an additional $2,000 more for health insurance premiums
.
Forces young people to buy insurance they don't need or want and would cost over $8,500 per person or pay 2.5% of their income as a fine for not having insurance or face prison if they don't do either.
.
Taxes medical devices and many medical procedures
.
Why the fight is really in the House!
.
President Obama is pushing very hard to pass Health Care reform using the reconciliation process. Reconciliation, part of the budget process designed to raise or lower revenues or spending, was never designed as a way to change the rules to pass controversial policy changes that otherwise would fail for lack of 60 votes needed to invoke cloture.
.
As outrageous as reconciliation is, ultimately it's a distraction, and free-market activists who focus on it may miss the real fight in the U.S. House of Representatives.
.
The reconciliation process cannot even begin until after the House passes the Senate bill exactly as it passed the Senate on Christmas Eve. That means it must pass with the abortion language already rejected by Rep. Bart Stupak and others still intact. It also must pass with the outrageous pork barrel spending deals cut for Nebraska, Louisiana, Connecticut, and others.
.
In other words, the bill must pass the House with everything in it that the American people have already made clear they hate. That real fight is in the House, and will be over, in victory or defeat, before the Senate does or doesn't use reconciliation. We must act now!
.
Action Steps:
.
1. Call, write and fax a letter to the members of the U.S House of Representatives listed below. Tell them about all of the ways in which this Health Care Bill will hurt our country. Tell them to listen to the American people!
.
2. Stay informed. Knowledge is power. Visit the links listed below to educate yourself on the topic.

The Washington Post... one of the most influential newspapers in the United States and particularly on Capitol Hill - ran an editorial on Sunday titled: "A Natural Choice". The piece looks at natural gas from an environmental point-of-view. It begins:
.
"In America's climate debate, one of the most promising developments of recent months has been the growing recognition in Washington that natural gas may play a key role in curbing carbon emissions."
.
The editors make the case for increasing the amount of electricity which is produced by natural gas -- and shutting down older, less efficient, and more polluting coal-fired plants.
.
"Existing gas-fired plants are running at only about 25 percent capacity, in part because many are switched on only when demand spikes...doubling the use of existing plants could replace about a third of coal-fired power."
.
There is now so much natural gas available in North America that using it for "base load" electricity generation -- instead of reserving it for "peaking" when demand for power is highest -- now makes economic and environmental sense...
