* Bloomberg.com had the following report posted up on their website this New Years Eve and it goes in part like this...Shale production is probably going to be with us forever and it can limit gains in gas prices,” said Peter Beutel, president of trading advisory company Cameron Hanover Inc. in New Canaan, Connecticut. “But if we have environmental rulings that certain states cannot produce shale gas, it’s going to take so much supply off the market.”...

* Also from Bloomberg.com is this report... Oil surged to its highest year-end price since 2007 as the dollar weakened and gasoline and heating oil futures climbed... Crude capped its second consecutive year of gains as the dollar dropped against the euro, boosting commodities’ appeal as an alternative investment. Oil settled above $91 a barrel after testing technical support near $89. Gasoline and heating oil advanced before the January contracts expired today...

* JPost.com brings us the following report and it starts off like this... An offshore natural gas reserve contains some 16 trillion cubic feet of gas worth an estimated $45 billion, an energy corporation which owns a share of the project said on Wednesday... Noble Energy Inc., which owns 39.66% of the prospect, said the massive store of natural gas in the “Leviathan” reserve – the largest of its kind discovered in the world in the last decade – “has the potential to position Israel as a natural gas- exporting nation.”...

* Noble Energy, Inc. had the following Press Release posted up on their website on December 29th and it goes in part like this...
.
Leviathan-1, located in approximately 5,400 feet (1,645 meters) of water, is about 80 miles (130 kilometers) offshore of Haifa and 29 miles (47 kilometers) southwest of the Tamar discovery. The results from the well confirm the pre-drill estimated resource range, with a gross mean for Leviathan of 16 trillion cubic feet (450 billion cubic meters). The Leviathan field is estimated to cover approximately 125 square miles (325 square kilometers) and, as a result of its size, will require two or more appraisal wells to further define total gas resources.
.
Charles D. Davidson, Noble Energy's Chairman and CEO, said, "Leviathan is the latest major discovery for Noble Energy and is easily the largest exploration discovery in our history. In the past two years, we and our partners have made three significant natural gas discoveries in the Levantine basin. Total gross mean resources discovered are estimated to be approximately 25 trillion cubic feet (700 billion cubic meters), with nearly 8.5 trillion cubic feet (240 billion cubic meters) net to Noble Energy's interest. The Leviathan discovery has further confirmed our geologic models and interpretation of this basin and validates that it contains significant natural gas resources."...

Watch Tuesday’s Lunar Eclipse/Winter Solstice As Both Coincide For First Time In 372 Years

Get ready folks for Mother Nature is going to put on one heck of a show this coming Tuesday, December 21st, when the lunar eclipse and the winter solstice, (the first day of winter,) both coincide for the first time in over 372 years. The last time this happened was also on the day of December 21st... 1638. Those of us in North America well most likely have one of the better views of this lunar event, weather permitting of course.
.
This late Monday night, early Tuesday morning lunar event will begin at 12:33am and end at 4:01am CST. The complete/full eclipse will be between the hrs of 1:41am and 2:53am CST, lasting for 72 minutes. This is when the full moon appears as a bright red/blood orange glow... or in other words, when the shadow of the earth completely covers the surface of the moon.
.
Here’s some real COOL stuff at link below...
.
ENJOY!!!
.
And yes... I’ll be up watching!
.
Oh yeah... one last thought... It won’t be another 372 years until the next Lunar Eclipse/Winter Solstice both coincide again on the same day. It will happen again in the year 2094. And yep... it too will be on the day of DECEMBER the 21st!

12/3/2010 - VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The U.S. Air Force's first unmanned re-entry spacecraft landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 1:16 a.m. today.

The X-37B, named Orbital Test Vehicle 1 (OTV-1), conducted on-orbit experiments for more than 220 days during its maiden voyage. It fired its orbital maneuver engine in low-earth orbit to perform an autonomous reentry before landing.

The X-37B is the newest and most advanced re-entry spacecraft. Managed by the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (AFRCO), the X-37B program performs risk reduction, experimentation and concept of operations development for reusable space vehicle technologies.

"Today's landing culminates a successful mission based on close teamwork between the 30th Space Wing, Boeing and the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office," said Lt Col Troy Giese, X-37B program manager from the AFRCO. "We are very pleased that the program completed all the on-orbit objectives for the first mission."

OTV-1's de-orbit and landing mark the transition from the on-orbit demonstration phase to a refurbishment phase for the program.

The Air Force is preparing to launch the next X-37B, OTV-2, in Spring 2011 aboard an Atlas V booster.

Star Wars 2010: Secret X-37B -
The Phantom Menace?
About this video: The X-37B unmanned spacecraft, a secretive US military project, landed on December 3rd at a California airbase after a successful seven month flight. The US Air Force claimed the flight was a test flight, used to measure the effectiveness of the craft. However, all of its activities while in orbit were classified. Officials explained the mission objectives as; guidance, navigation, control, thermal, autonomous operation, re-entry and landing tests. Due to the vague nature of the flight description, some have come to believe the craft was designed for spying or other military purposes; possibly leading to the militarization of space. Robert Bowman, the former director for Advanced Space Programs Development at the US Air Force said, the program is secret so potential adversaries are not aware of the exact nature of the program.
