* TimesOnline.co.uk had the following report posted up on their website this Thursday morning and it starts off like this… Iranian police fired tear-gas and shots into the air today to disperse thousands of demonstrators who had defied official warnings and staged a march to mark the 10th anniversary of a bloody student uprising… Protesters chanted “Death to the dictator” as they gathered in the streets around Tehran University, the epicentre of the 1999 protests, which were crushed by police and Basiji vigilantes… Today, police deployed reinforcements after a first volley of tear-gas failed to disperse the demonstrators, who continued to grow in number, according to eyewitnesses. Police then fired a second volley of the gas…

* YNet.com has this take and it goes in part like this… According to some reports, demonstrators were chanting "Death to the Dictator," while police helicopters were keeping an eye on them from the air… "They were about 250 people who shouted in favor of (defeated presidential candidate Mirhossein) Mousavi and made the victory sign. Police dispersed them," a witness, who asked not to be named, told Reuters… According to later reports, security forces directed live fire at demonstrators. An eyewitness told the New York Times website that a woman with a blood-soaked jacket was seen running away from a protest scene. According to a report by an exiled Iranian blogger considered credible, at least three people sustained gunshot wounds in the rallies…
