DoD Identifies Operation Enduring Freedom Soldier


The Department of Defense announced today the identity of a soldier listed as Missing-Captured on July 3rd while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pfc. Bowe R. Bergdahl, 23, of Ketchum, Idaho, was declared Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown (DUSTWUN) on July 1st and his status was changed to "Missing-Captured" on July 3rd. Pfc. Bergdahl is a member of 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

DoD Announces Soldiers Status as Missing-Captured


The Department of Defense has changed the status of two soldiers serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom from duty status whereabouts unknown (DUSTWUN) to missing-captured.

Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.
Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass.
...were declared missing-captured June 27th.

On May 12th, Fouty and Jimenez were categorized as DUSTWUN when their patrol was attacked by enemy forces. They are assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
