U.S. Army Sgt. Dustin M. Kaminiski and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Johnny L. Bates keep close watch while patrolling through a small village in the Kunar province, Afghanistan, July 7. The Soldiers are wearing the new plate-carrier, which was given to select units to replace the Improved Outer Tactical Vest. Kaminiski, a team leader, and Bates, a squad leader, both serve with the 1st Platoon, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment.
