The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. George J. Howell 24, of Salinas, Calif., died December 21st in Riyadh, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Infantry Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York.
