A blast has rocked a religious center in the southwestern Iranian city of Shiraz, injuring at least 105 people and killing nine others... The bomb, reportedly planted in a hand-bag, went off in a mosque on Saturday, about 15 minutes before a speech by a high regarded provincial cleric ends...

Eight people were killed and 66 wounded Saturday by a bomb blast at a mosque in Iran's southern city of Shiraz, in an unprecedented strike on a non-border urban centre, officials said...The strong bomb explosion took place at 9:00 pm (1630 GMT) during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, the Fars news agency quoted local officials as saying... "The number of people wounded in the bomb attack has now reached 66 and the death toll of martyrs has reached eight," the agency quoted Colonel Zamani, the head of Shiraz security forces, as saying...

A blast in a mosque in Iran that killed at least 10 people was an accident and not an attack, a senior Interior Ministry official said Sunday... Iranian media had previously reported that a bomb had gone off in a crowded mosque in the southern city of Shiraz on Saturday evening, leaving more than 160 people wounded in addition to the 10 killed... "Last night's explosion in Shiraz was as a consequence of an accident and not the planting of a bomb," IRNA, the official news agency, quoted the deputy interior minister in charge of national security, Abbas Mohtaj, as saying... He did not give details, but state Press TV television said the blast may have been "caused by explosives left behind from an earlier exhibition commemorating" the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war...

reports it in part this way ...On Sunday, the deputy interior minister in charge of security, Abbas Mohtaj, said the explosion was "the result of an accident." He didn't elaborate... The police chief of the southern Fars Province, Gen. Ali Moayyedi, said he "rejects" the possibility of an intentional bombing and "any sort of insurgency" in the blast...
