* The Wall Street Journal has this take on the news this afternoon…
The Egyptian military's apparent ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood from power after just one troubled year in office deals a blow to the movement's push for influence in the region. It could mark the start of Islamists' decline as a political power in the region, but could also push some Islamists to give up on democracy and turn to violence

* FOX NEWS had the following report originally posted on their website early in the afternoon on Wednesday 19th and it starts off like this… A top Obama administration official called last week's deadly assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya a "terrorist attack" for the first time -- a statement that publicly casts doubt on administration claims it was a "spontaneous" act… "Yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy," Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said during a Senate hearing Wednesday… Olsen echoed administration colleagues in saying U.S. officials have no specific intelligence about "significant advanced planning or coordination" for the attack… However, his statement goes beyond White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate was spontaneous. He is the first top administration official to call the strike an act of terrorism…

Around 6:00pm CDT on Wednesday 19th the following explosive info came out… Fox News… obtained a three-page intelligence report showing that two days before the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, a statement incited "sons of Egypt" to pressure America to release the so-called blind sheikh "even if it requires burning the embassy down with everyone in it."… The web statement, apparently posted on Sept. 9, was in reference to the embassy in Egypt. It preceded a throng of demonstrators breaching the U.S. Embassy wall in Cairo, supposedly in protest over an anti-Islam film. Obama administration officials claim that attackers in Libya then took their cue from Cairo and seized the opportunity to attack the consulate in Benghazi…

30,000 Strong, Mostly Pro American March, Named “Rally to Save Benghazi”, Forced Members of the Ansar al-Sharia, (they’re the Militant Group Responsible for the Deaths of Stevens' and three others,) out of their strongholds in Benghazi Early Saturday Morning.
.
* Telegraph.co.uk brings us the following report that starts off like this… Up to four people were reported dead in clashes which broke out when the last and biggest militia was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning. Earlier, members of Ansar al-Sharia, the militant group accused of responsibility for Mr. Stevens' death, were forced out of their strongholds in the city The deaths and promises of retribution by militia leaders presage more trouble to come. But for the moment the headquarters of the freelance groups that have held sway in Benghazi since the revolution that toppled Col Muammar Gaddafi are claimed to be in the hands of police and army units loyal to the newly elected Prime Minister, Mustafa Abushagur… The protests in Benghazi on Friday evening, estimated at 30,000-strong, featured pro-American slogans and banners, unusual for demonstrations in Arab countries. Though many protesters said they were attending "for Benghazi, not for America", some held up placards commemorating Mr. Stevens, who lived in Benghazi last year while coordinating American support for the revolution…

US Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and Three Others Murdered During Attack on U.S. Consulate Compound in Benghazi

US Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens
Official State Department Portrait
.
At least 20 armed Muslim Protesters/MURDERERS stormed the U.S. Consulate Compound in Benghazi Tuesday supposedly angered over an American film that depicted the Prophet Mohammad as being a fraud and womanizer.
.
Around a dozen Americans were inside the Consulate at the time, guarded only by security provided by the Libyan Government. It’s been reported that for around 20 minutes, the Libyan guards fought valiantly, exchanging fire with the attackers who were also pitching firebombs inside.
.
The Libyan Security Team, our supposed friends, really did us much justice, (NOT) and by protocol MOVED our Ambassador and others to another more secure building for safety after the initial wave of protests had begun. THEN… some of the members of the Libyan Security Team went out of their way and TOLD the murderous armed mob where the hell they had just MOVED our Ambassador and the others!!!  The rest is sadly history… Four are dead… including our Ambassador.
.
It’s also worth noting that on this same day, Tuesday, September 11, 2012, yes… the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks… Egyptian protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo… tearing down and burning the American flag and replacing it with an Islamic banner!
.
I’m sorry, but I do not care what others might say on this… But I truly believe this was a well timed, coordinated attack on America. This WAS as close to an Act of War on this Great Country of Ours as you can get! Even other U.S. officials are now saying that the attacks were not the result of a protest against an anti-Islam film but instead a coordinated terrorist attack timed for the 11th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. And I do so agree…

Egyptian Military Launches Airstrikes against Extremist Military Cells in Northern Sinai where Terrorist Previously Launched Attacks against Israel - Israel welcomes Heavy-Handed Response in Chaotic Northern Sinai Region - Gaza Feeling Wrath of Cairo After Claims of Attackers came through Tunnels
Wednesday, August 08, 2012
.
* The Guardian brings us the following report this early Wednesday afternoon and it starts off like this… The Egyptian military launched operations from the air and ground against suspected Islamic militants in the Sinai on Wednesday, in a move that could herald a sustained campaign to regain control of the anarchic region... In a further sign of a tougher approach the Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi, sacked his intelligence chief, Mourad Mowafi. According to Egyptian TV, the intelligence services had advance warning of Sunday's attack but failed to act in the belief that Muslims would not attack fellow Muslims during the meal to break the Ramadan fast. The governor of north Sinai and the head of the military police were also removed from their posts… Air strikes on targets near the town of Sheikh Zuwaid, close to the border with Gaza, left at least 20 militants dead. Egyptian troops raided villages in the area following attacks overnight by gunmen on checkpoints around the north Sinai city of el-Arish, in which five security personnel and one civilian were wounded…

* HAARETZ.com has this report… Following Sunday's attack in which 16 Egyptian policemen were killed, Egyptian president dismisses a string of key security officials… Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi fired his intelligence chief and the governor of Northern Sinai on Wednesday following the deadly weekend attack on troops by suspected militants in Sinai… In a major shakeup, Morsi also asked Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi to replace the commander of the military police, a force that has been heavily used since the ouster 18 months ago of Hosni Mubarak… He also fired the commander of the presidential guards and named new chiefs for security in Cairo and the police's large central security, a large paramilitary force often deployed to deal with riots… The changes followed the killing on Sunday of 16 soldiers at a post in Sinai along the border with Israel and the Gaza Strip…

* The Washington Post has this take on the news… The Egyptian military launched airstrikes early Wednesday in its boldest move to date to confront extremist military cells that have recently taken root in northern Sinai, from where they have launched attacks against Israel… The rare aerial strikes on Egyptian soil came two days after armed militants in the Sinai killed 16 members of Egypt’s security forces, broke through the border into Israel and attempted to launch a second attack there. The assault marked the first time Egyptian fighter planes have carried out strikes in the Sinai since the end of the country’s war with Israel in the 1970…

.
* NRP.org brings us the following report, (audio too,) and it starts off like this… Israel is welcoming Egypt's military efforts to stamp out Islamist militants in the Sinai following the recent border attack there that killed 16 Egyptian soldiers. The Jewish state has long been concerned over the situation in the Sinai, where there's been an upsurge in violence… But calls in Egypt to modify the peace treaty with Israel -- allowing Egypt to strengthen its security in the Sinai-- has also led to concern in Israel… At the section of the border between Egypt and Israel where Sunday's attack took place, soldiers from the two countries are separated by less than a football field in length. There's no fence left; the militants blew it up…

Scorched Earth Tactics Being Used By Gaddafi’s Dying Regime -
 Tuesday, February 22, 2011

* HeraldScotland.com brings us the following report that starts off like this... Libya last night fell back on “scorched earth” tactics as the dying regime of Colonel Gaddafi ordered warplanes to bomb its own capital in an increasingly bloody bid to hang on to power... Eyewitnesses said the military was attacking Tripoli from the skies as protesters surged closer to breaking Muammar Gaddafi’s 40-year grip on power... Local resident Adel Mohamed Saleh said: “What we are witnessing is unimaginable... Warplanes and helicopters are indiscriminately bombing one area after another. There are many dead. Our people are dying. It is the policy of scorched earth. Every 20 minutes they are bombing.”...
