Senate Approves Bill Banning Waterboarding - Bush Has Promised To Veto Legislation That Included Such Language

The ChicagoTribune.com website brings us this story late this evening and it goes in part like this...
...The Senate approved the measure 51-45, a margin well short of the 67 votes needed to override a Bush veto. Five Republicans were among those who voted for the legislation. Sens. Joseph Lieberman, a Connecticut independent, and Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) joined 43 Republicans in opposing the bill... Presidential candidates Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) were on the campaign trail and missed the vote. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a former prisoner of war who has said he believes waterboarding is torture, voted against passage. Obama has repeatedly called waterboarding torture, and Clinton wrote a letter to Bush earlier this week urging him to back off his veto pledge...
