The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Christopher J. West, 26, of Arlington, Texas, died February 4th in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered on February 3rd in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
