Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called for President Pervez Musharraf to be removed from office and put on trial for treason... Sharif, chief of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), in a speech to supporters yesterday claimed that Asif Ali Zardari, whose party leads the coalition government, had agreed in talks the day before to remove Musharraf... But a spokeswoman for Zardari said that while his party might consider impeaching Musharraf, its first priority was to cut back the former military strongman’s powers...

Pakistan Muslim League (N) Quaid and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says Pervez Musharraf pushed the country to the brink of destruction and he does not deserve to be given safe passage... Addressing a function held to mark the 10th anniversary of Pakistan’s emerging as a nuclear power here at Awan-i-Iqbal, Nawaz said President Pervez Musharraf had promised to step down in case the people’s mandate went against him on February 18. But he failed to keep his word. He said time has come to bring revolution “because it seems the February 18 decision of the people has not yet been accepted.”... PML-N Chief said President Pervez Musharraf should be tried on charges of treason. “There is no need for giving him a safe passage”...
