The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. Elijah J. Rao, 26, of Lake Oswego, Ore., died December 5th in Nuristan, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
