Why is it that every time something goes down around Israel, the United Nations can’t wait to get themselves all up in the middle of it. But yet, with Egypt turning quickly into a “Failed State”... we don’t see them anywhere to speak of... Hmmm.
.
Just another thought to ponder on today...

* Late Afternoon update *
Journalist Attacked - Some Severely
.
.
* This troubling report comes off the Fox News website this Thursday afternoon and it starts off like this... The White House is calling on the Egyptian government to immediately release any journalists who have been detained in the course of covering the country's political unrest, saying the "systematic targeting" of reporters is "totally unacceptable."... The Obama administration strongly condemned the behavior of pro-government supporters, after a number of international journalists -- including Fox Business Network's Ashley Webster, and Fox News' Greg Palkot and Olaf Wiig-- were attacked, intimidated and in some cases jailed in Cairo. [Note: Greg and Olaf were beaten so badly that when taken to the hospital last night, their condition was reported as ‘grave’ but thankfully were released by this afternoon and hoping on their way home. * Mediate.com has this report for us... Earlier today we reported on the attacks of Fox News journalists Greg Palkot and video journalist Olaf Wiig that sent them both to the hospital with “fairly grave” injuries... Mediate has learned that upon being rushed the hospital, Palkot and Wiig were both detained by military police and accused of being Israeli spies. A source with knowledge of the situation says that Palkot was blindfolded throughout the ordeal... It was an exceptionally nerve wracking 24 hours at Fox News, according to our source, with a flurry of calls being made behind the scenes as a small team of executives were on pins & needles throughout. We’re told both Palkot and Wiig have been in touch with executives there who were relieved to hear their voices, although both are said to be extremely shaken and are only operating on adrenalin at this point...

* AP had this take on the news late this Thursday morning stateside and their report goes in part like this ... Among the many detained were correspondents for The New York Times, Washington Post and Al-Jazeera. The Committee to Protect Journalists said late Thursday that in just the past 24 hours it had recorded 24 detentions of journalists, 21 assaults and five cases in which equipment was seized... The attacks on journalists have "intensified to levels unseen in Egypt's modern history," said Mohamed Abdel Dayem, CPJ's Middle East and North Africa program coordinator... "This is a dark day for Egypt and a dark day for journalism," said Joel Simon, the group's executive director. "Egypt is seeking to create an information vacuum that puts it in the company of the world's worst oppressors."...
