* The Washington Post gets us started off with this bit of good reporting that starts off like this... The possible heirs of Egypt's uprising took to the streets Monday in different corners of the Middle East: Iran's beleaguered opposition stormed back to central Tehran and came under a tear gas attack by police... Demonstrators faced rubber bullets and birdshot to demand more freedoms in the relative wealth of Bahrain. And protesters pressed for the ouster of the ruler in poverty-drained Yemen... The protests - all with critical interests for Washington - offer an important lesson about how groups across Middle East are absorbing the message from Cairo and tailoring it to their own aspirations... The heady themes of democracy, justice and empowerment remain intact as the protest wave works it way through the Arab world and beyond...

* Guardian.co.uk brings us the following report that starts off like this... Egypt's uprising has sent powerful shockwaves across the Middle East, with demonstrations and street clashes as far afield as Iran, Bahrain and Yemen... As protests and strikes erupted across Egypt, thousands of Iranians defied a government ban and volleys of teargas to join a rally in Azadi Square in the centre of Tehran. The protests were the biggest since those that erupted following the disputed 2009 presidential elections... Mir Hossein Mousavi, leader of the Green movement, was placed under house arrest, as was Mehdi Karroubi, another prominent opposition figure. Protest rallies were also held in Isfahan and Shiraz...

- Guardian.co.uk also has this report posted up on their website today... Thousands of defiant protesters in Iran's capital have clashed with security officials as they marched in a banned rally. One person was reported killed, with dozens injured and many more arrested... Supporters of the Green movement appeared in scattered groups in various locations in central Tehran and other big cities in what was seen as the Iranian opposition's first attempt in more than a year to hold street protests against the government... The riot police and government-sponsored plainclothes basiji militia used teargas, wielded batons and opened fire to disperse protesters who chanted "death to the dictator", a reference to both Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and the president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...
