Memories of Past Thanksgivings
.
I did this short story a few years back to bring back memories in my family of those good old days when we were all so young and the family was everything. Today I wish to share this story with you and those overseas doing this country so proud. Hope it helps bring back in you some of those good OLD memories about some of your past Thanksgivings with your loved ones...
God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you...

And so my story begins... from the eyes of an older country boy... ME!!!.

***********************
.In this short story, I tried to bring back those good old days at Thanksgiving time. All that good cooking and eating that went on.... It's like them days had happened just yesterday!!!.
.
I can remember dad driving up to the Big House and all of us kids jumping out of the car and making a dash for the porch. Just to be pulled back to help unload the car of all the food offerings that we had brought for the Thanksgiving feast.
.
As we walk into the house, we're greeted by hugs and kisses from the Aunts and warm hellos from the Uncles. Smile at Papaw as we walk by and on to the kitchen and out to the back porch we go. After unloading all the food on the tables outside, it's time to go and get a big hug and kiss from Mamaw. Naturally we would always get the yes ma'am... no ma'am drill from her and after that all of us kids would take off in our own directions.
.
Now as for me- I usually ran for Uncle Buddy and would jump up into his arms. We'd have a short man to man chat... and then it was off to Papaw. Oh yeah... That short dash, backward flip to a tail slide across the arm of the chair topped off with a good 10 point landing- down between the side of Papaw and the arm of the chair. Such perfection- I'd even managed to miss that big old cigar that was always in Papaw's mouth.
.
"Hey Papaw.... Got you any wolves this week!!!" I sure did love getting up in that chair with Papaw. All the small talk that went on between us that only Papaws and their grandchildren can have and the smell of Papaw's cigar- Now how can any of us forget that!!!.After a short visit with Papaw, I would run through the house to see what all the cousins were up to. Shoot- It always seemed that by the time we could all get together and get some kind of game started, all through the house you would hear Mamaw calling... "Everyone come to the table- it's time to eat." Now you would think that all us kids would come a running!!! Well some of us would, yet some of us would not...
.
Yes sir, some of us kids were a little hard headed. Figure that!!! We would give ourselves them excuses like- "If we hurry up- we can finish this game and then go eat." This never did work out, no matter what we were playing... A few minutes would pass by, then someone would come for us bringing major threats from our parents. Hard headed are not, we knew for our own self preservation it would be best to make a dash for the tables about this time...
.
Now... Where you got to sit down and eat was all up to how old you was. When you came of age, you got to eat at the big tables. If not of age yet, you had to eat in the kitchen or on the back porch. (I thought on this for a little bit and came to this conclusion... If we were to have a family reunion this Thanksgiving... and everyone showed up, I'd still end up on the back porch or at best in the kitchen. Some things never change... Oh well...)
.
After everyone got settled down in their chairs it would start to get real quit. That's because before we could all start eating we had to have prayer. There was always some praying going on but it was more on the lines of: "Lord, please don't let Aunt Alice say the prayer this year." Mother would have the food cold by the time she got done with the Thanksgiving Blessings. Yes sir... That woman could sure do some praying at the table!!!
.
Anyway- after a good 5 minutes of quit time, we finally got to eat. A-Men!!! There's no need in going over the list of food again because we had it all and then some... I'd eat so much that there was no way in the world I was going anywhere near that dessert table. Well not for an hour or two...
.
After the feast, all us kids would take off to play and the adults would clean up and then head for the living room to visit and watch football. Uncle J.P. and Dad would go outside and have them a smoke while Uncle Jack and Uncle R.V. headed for the back bedrooms for a short nap. After a while dad and Uncle J.P. would catch up with the men and us kids knew to play very quietly around this time. If we had awakened any of the men we would have all been dead meat!!!
.
I could go on and on with this story but I think I'll end it here. Besides, I have so many fond memories about this time of the year that I'd have to write a small book to cover them all...
.
Anyway, I truly hope that this short story has sparked a few fond memories in all of you and I'll end with this wish... May you and yours have a wonderful and memorable Thanksgiving and for god’s sake… don't burn the rolls up this year!!!

Libya: On Ground Updates - November 19, 2011

Libya: On Ground Updates
Gaddafi’s Last Son on the Loose,
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, Captured
Saturday, November 19, 2011
.
In scenes of celebration outstripped only by news of Colonel Qaddafi’s capture and death last month, Tripoli’s streets erupted in revelry at the news that Mr. Qaddafi had been seized. Vehicles clogged intersections, horns blaring, and militiamen shot their rifles into the sky. In Zintan, thousands of people poured into the streets as fireworks and rocket and gunfire broke out… The capture eliminates perhaps the best hope that loyalists had of rallying a new revolution around the remnants of the Qaddafi family. It also represents a personal transformation that turned Seif al-Islam from the most prominent advocate of changing his father’s Libya into one of the chief architects of the regime’s deadly crackdown on dissent in its final days… Mr. Grife said Zintan fighters had been following Mr. Qaddafi through the desert using local sources for intelligence about his whereabouts in the past few weeks. When they learned he and a small entourage would try to make a break to leave the country, perhaps bound for Tunisia, they laid a trap for him on Saturday morning along a valley road outside Awbari, an oasis town… When Zintan fighters blocked the caravan, Mr. Qaddafi broke from his vehicle and was captured on foot. “They tried to fight,” Mr. Grife said. A few shots were fired, but there were no reports of any wounded…

Israeli Lead Up Report to Pre-Emptive Attack on Iran - November 15, 2011

Israeli Lead Up Report to Pre-Emptive Attack on Iran
Western Official Says Israel Responsible for Massive Explosion at Military Arms Depot near Tehran that Killed 17 and Wounded 15 others -- One of the Dead and Main Target was Revolutionary Guard Commander General Hasan Moghaddam -- A Key Figure in Iran’s Missile Program

* MinnPost.com brings us the following report early Tuesday afternoon and it starts off like this… Iran today buries a senior commander of its missile force, amid claims that the huge explosion that killed him and at least 16 others at a Revolutionary Guard base on Saturday was the work of Israeli agents… Maj. Gen. Hassan Moghaddam was heralded by fellow commanders as the "founder" of Iran's missile program, which has deployed ballistic missiles with ranges up to 1,500 miles -- enough to reach Europe. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) praised his role in developing artillery and missile units. His importance was such that even Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei attended the funeral… That background would make Moghaddam a prime target in what appears to be a concerted Spy vs. Spy campaign -  from assassinations and facility explosions, to three destructive computer viruses, by Iran's count - that have dealt setbacks to Iran's controversial nuclear and ballistic missile programs in recent years. Speculation that Moghaddam was the latest casualty, in the series of strikes that Iran blames on Israel and the US, has been spurred by the fact that such a critical Guard officer was present and killed, during what Iran calls an "accident" involving a routine transfer of munitions…

If one reads history on how the Israelis
do things prior to any major escalation on their behalf…
One will see this pattern…
First comes the Assassinations by Israel
Then Come the Major Arial Attacks.

Canadian Government Members Say Obama Playing Political Games Worrying More About Being Re-Elected Then Maintaining America's Trade Partnership With Canada

* News-JournalOnline.com gets us started off with the following report and it starts off like this… How can you tell it's an election year? … When political leaders begin delaying important decisions, perhaps beyond Nov. 6, 2012… On that key date, President Barack Obama will face the voters. Perhaps to inspire a segment of his own supporters, Obama on Thursday put the brakes on a crucial energy plan that will import at least 700,000 barrels of oil daily from our neighbor to the north, Canada… That is a large daily supply, one that could ease the market price of a barrel of oil -- which settled at $99 per barrel at close on Friday… It's a puzzling and potentially destructive delay. The U.S. State Department had already said the proposed 1,700-mile pipeline route from Alberta to Texas would not affect the environment in the Great Plains states or elsewhere. Yet on Thursday, the State Department called for a new review that could be finished by the first quarter of 2013 -- well past Election Day, 2012… TransCanada Corp., the company proposing the Keystone XL pipeline project, made its initial application in late 2008. The Obama administration isn't exactly moving at the speed of business…

.
* The Seattle Times has this report and it starts off like this… The United States' decision to delay the Keystone Pipeline, which would have brought Canadian oil to U.S. refineries, is making us few friends in the north. The Globe and Mail reported on how Canada's energy industry is now in an urgent hunt to get its product to Asia. And Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the delay shows why Canada needs to diversity its trade beyond the US…

.
* The Washington Post reports it this way… Canada has stepped up its lobbying after the Obama administration delayed a decision on an oil pipeline critical to the country’s economic future… Canada’s prime minister said he made it clear in a weekend meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama that Canada will step up its efforts to sell oil to Asia since the Obama administration delayed a decision on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline…

.
* Fuelfix.com has the following report and it starts off like this… The Keystone XL pipeline may be the first shovel-ready project buried by foot-dragging… While the Obama administration allows the proposed pipeline, which would move oil from Canada’s oil sands region in northern Alberta to Gulf Coast refineries, to languish, market demands will ensure the oil is transported south by other routes. By the time Keystone gets the green light from the State Department, there may be no demand for it…

* The Daily Mail’s original report goes in part like this… Sources say the understanding at the top of the British Government is that Israel will attempt to strike against the nuclear sites ‘sooner rather than later’ - with logistical support from the US… A senior Foreign Office figure has revealed that ministers have been told to expect Israeli military action, adding: ‘We’re expecting something as early as Christmas, or very early in the new year.’… Officials believe President Barack Obama would have to support the Israelis or risk losing vital Jewish-American support in the next presidential election…

.
Wednesday, November 09, 2011
.
An IAEA report on nuclear verification in Iran was circulated on 8 November 2011 to the Agency's Board of Governors and the UN Security Council.
.
The Agency's 35-member Board of Governors will consider the report at its next meeting in Vienna from 17 November 2011. The document's circulation is currently restricted to IAEA Member States and unless the IAEA Board decides otherwise the Agency cannot authorize its release to the public.
.
The report, Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and Relevant Provisions of Security Council Resolutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran, was issued by the IAEA Director General. It covers developments since the last report on 2 September 2011, as well as issues of longer standing.
.
……….……..
.
Needless to say the IAEA report was leaked and you can read it by clicking on the link at the bottom of this post. But for now we have the following reports below…
.
* BBC had this report out Tuesday afternoon and it starts off like this… The words are dry and cautious. But Tuesday's report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)… the UN's nuclear watchdog… represents a serious indictment of Iran's nuclear activities… At the very least, Tehran has a troubling case to answer…

.
- BBC also has this report out today on just how Russia is feeling on all of this Iranian mess and it goes in part like this… Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told Interfax news agency that extra sanctions "will be seen in the international community as an instrument for regime change in Iran"… "That approach is unacceptable to us, and the Russian side does not intend to consider such proposals."… The Russian foreign ministry later issued another statement saying that the report "does not contain fundamentally new information"…

.
* The Washington Post had this report posted-up on their website Tuesday afternoon and it starts off like this… Intelligence provided to U.N. nuclear officials shows that Iran’s government has mastered the critical steps needed to build a nuclear weapon, receiving assistance from foreign scientists to overcome key technical hurdles, according to Western diplomats and nuclear experts briefed on the findings… Documents and other records provide new details on the role played by a former Soviet weapons scientist who allegedly tutored Iranians over several years on building high-precision detonators of the kind used to trigger a nuclear chain reaction, the officials and experts said. Crucial technology linked to experts in Pakistan and North Korea also helped propel Iran to the threshold of nuclear capability, they added…
