* YNetNews.com brings us the following report this Wednesday afternoon that goes in part like this. …Earlier Wednesday, at an Israeli defense site south of Tel Aviv, Panetta stood beside Defense Minister Ehud Barak to declare that the Obama administration is serious about the possibility of eventually resorting to military force against Iran. But he said all non-military measures must be exhausted first… Barak sounded as unconvinced as the prime minister, saying he appreciated US support but added that the probability of international sanctions ever compelling Iran to give up its nuclear program is “extremely low.”… Netanyahu's and Barack’s statements, taken together, dramatized the growing strains in US-Israeli relations over what strategy to pursue with Iran…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, standing next to the U.S. defense chief, said Wednesday without qualification that international economic sanctions have had no effect on Iran's nuclear program and suggested Israeli patience was wearing thin, a statement that amounted to an indictment of President Barack Obama's policy toward the Islamic republicNetanyahu dismissed U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's assurances that the United States shared its goal of a non-nuclear Iran, saying the central features of Washington's strategy for stopping the Islamic republic's nuclear ambitions -- sanctions and diplomacy -- were perilously close to failure… Netanyahu did not explicitly threaten to attack Iran, but that was the unspoken implication of his assertion that all non-military measures have proven ineffective in persuading Iran to change its course…
