The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Christopher M. Eckhardt, 19, of Phoenix, Ariz., died in Taji, Iraq on May 3, from a non-combat related cause. Eckhardt was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. The incident is under investigation.
