Al-Qaeda Linked to Operations from Iran - Iraq's Al-Qaeda threatens to attack Iran

Here are a couple interesting reads I ran across over the last few days and I couldn’t help put to post them together this morning. I for one find the 1st story more relevant than the 2nd ... however both stories I believe to hold true.

The FT.com, (The Financial Times) website had this read out a few days back... Evidence that Iranian territory is being used as a base by al-Qaeda to help in terrorist operations in Iraq and elsewhere is growing, say western officials... It is not clear how much the al-Qaeda operation, described by one official as a money and communications hub, is being tolerated or encouraged by the Iranian government, they said... The group’s operatives, who link the al-Qaeda leadership in Pakistan with their disciples in Iraq, the Levant and North Africa, move with relative freedom in the country, they said...

Al-Qaeda Linked To Operations From Iran

The AfricAsia.com website has this counter story on al-Qaeda however. It starts off like this... The self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq has given Iran a two-month ultimatum to stop meddling in Iraqi affairs or face all-out war, according to an audiotape posted on the Internet on Monday... "We give... the leaders of Iran a period of two months to stop all forms of support to the rejectionists of Iraq, and stop direct and indirect interference in the affairs of the Islamic state," said a voice attributed to the group's leader Abu Omar al Baghdadi...
