Late on Friday, Scotland Yard's chief of anti-terrorist operations, deputy assistant commissioner Peter Clark, confirmed that the raid had been urgent, in what security experts interpreted as a sign that police judged another terrorist attack on London to be dangerously near completion and countdown.
