Monday’s Spacewalk is Scheduled to begin at 2:12 p.m. EST
The decision to add the spacewalk was made Saturday, and the crew was notified during the spacewalk by Robert Curbeam and Sunita Williams. At the end of the mission’s third spacewalk, the pair made some preliminary attempts and succeeded in retracting all but 11 bays of the array.
.
Robert Curbeam and Mission Specialist Christer Fuglesang will be conducting the spacewalk today and will first work on the array panel grommets and then will resume the shaking activities if necessary. Another objective of the fourth spacewalk is to collect additional information that could prove useful when the opposite side of the array is retracted on STS-117 in March.
.
A little over 6½ hours has been scheduled for today’s spacewalk if needed.
.
The spacewalk will be Curbeam’s fourth during STS-116. This will be Fuglesang’s third.
