My take on the President’s Speech... and then some

I thought the President's speech was a very powerful one tonight.

Sad thing is... Why in the HELL didn't he do this 6 months... a year ago!!!? I'll answer my on question. It was all politics. And both sides have played into these games at the expense of a lot of lives and a lot of our country’s treasure.

With that said... We can not bail on the Iraqi people... on the free loving people of that part of the world. Never!!! I’ve said it... my fellow Blogger friends have said it... and many of our Politicians have said it... If we come home without finishing the job... our enemies will follow. Then what!!!!!!???

The Dems came out after the President tonight and again preached their ideas of “Redeployment” ... I wonder why they will never follow through and tell the American people what happens after “Redeployment” takes place. (The President did just that tonight. In fact... he has been doing so all along. But do they listen???)

Why can’t any of the Dems stand behind their ideas they preach to the American people with anything other than because it sounds good or with... because that is what the polls tell us has to happen. Why want they discuss the repercussions of “Redeployment”... WHY!!!?????? You and I both know the answer to that one.

I say it is well enough time to get this one-sided debate started... get it going both ways and press the Dems on these issues. I mean press them real hard and heavy too.

Sadly my friends... this debate has not been happening in our country and the average American has been bombarded with nothing but words and pictures of death and we’re losing and we can’t ever win. I mean... no wonder the public opinion is the way it is today.

The way I see it... unless something happens and happens very soon... we will have lost the political war here at home... If this should ever happen... god help the millions who will die because of it. And I mean that....
.

Too many people have forgotten... or just flat out never believed... that we are at war. That this is an honest to god global war we are in right now. And never think about the thought that if we do as so many on the left wish us to do... we would be giving root to this war’s potential of even spreading faster and more furious.

If we allow the left to persuade the majority of this country’s people into tucking tail and bailing on the war efforts... the war will be here in our streets... In our shopping malls, in our restaurants, in our nightclubs and our gas stations and our power companies and water and natural gas companies, and our banks and our economy and our jobs and most of all... our lives and even at our funerals.........

And never forget... those preaching the left of left causes will be the first ones our enemies will line up against the wall and brutally murder. Why??? Because everything the left of left stand for is everything our enemies hate!

Our enemies could care less about talking. They want our way of life ended... completely... Period!!!

Anyway... I thought the President did very well tonight...

And so the most dangerous debate this country has seen... begins in earnests.

*****************************
Just a few thoughts the day after
Thursday, January 11, 2007

Everyone is buzzing the President’s speech last night. That’s a real good thing. We need this debate. Many to the good and sadly to the bad too. But part of his speech that is completely being overlooked is where the President talked about IRAN...

It goes as follows.... (This is about halfway down in his speech transcript.)

... Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial integrity and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist challenges. This begins with addressing Iran and Syria. These two regimes are allowing terrorists and insurgents to use their territory to move in and out of Iraq. Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops. We will disrupt the attacks on our forces. We'll interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria. And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq.

We're also taking other steps to bolster the security of Iraq and protect American interests in the Middle East. I recently ordered the deployment of an additional carrier strike group to the region. We will expand intelligence-sharing and deploy Patriot air defense systems to reassure our friends and allies. We will work with the governments of Turkey and Iraq to help them resolve problems along their border. And we will work with others to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons and dominating the region...

You know damn good and well that part of his speech got the Iranian Leaders attention. Especially since we have already had US troops raid Iran's consulate in northern Iraq today, arresting five of their staff just hours after President Bush vowed to cut off Iranian and Syrian support to the terrorists in Iraq. (Read this overlooked story at The Australian.news.com)

Oh-Yeah -- Action that goes along with words sends a powerful message. I just hope, no I take that back... I believe the gloves are now off and all enemies of Iraq and this country better take notice.
God’s speed to all the U.S. and Iraqi forces.

More to come if I think up or see something worth posting...
