Death Sentence Sought Against Chemical Ali

The chief prosecutor in the Anfal case urged the judge on Monday to hand down a death sentence against Ali Hassan al-Majid, better known as Chemical Ali for his role in planning the gas attack that killed thousands of Kurds in Halabja, northeastern Iraq... Majid, Saddam Hussein's cousin and former aide, is on trial with five co-defendants: Taher al-Aani, former governor of Ninawa, Saber Abdul-Aziz al-Dori, former director of military intelligence, Sultan Hashim, former defense minister, Hussein Rashid al-Tikriti, formerly of the armed forces' central command, and former intelligence official Farhan al-Motlak al-Juburi...
