More US Forces Heading to Afghanistan

Within the next two weeks, around 700 members of the 1st Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, (an Army airborne infantry battalion,) are expected to deploy from Fort Bragg, N.C. to Afghanistan. It wasn’t but a few months ago, (March) that the Unit returned from Iraq after being deployed there in December to help provide security for the Elections held this past January...

This Army airborne infantry battalion, will be going to Afghanistan to help provide more flexibility in the fight against terrorism and to help in the support of the National Assembly and Provincial Council elections coming up this September 18th.

I wish all the troops and their families nothing but good things… For the troops to have a safe and successful mission and for all of them to return home soon after the elections.

*** The body of the final member of a Navy Seal counterterrorism team was recovered during combat-search-and-rescue operation on July 10th in the Kunar province of Afghanistan military officials said today.

The location and disposition of the service member's remains indicate he died while fighting off enemy terrorists on or about June 28, a coalition spokesman said. Officials said there was no evidence to support a statement from a purported Taliban spokesman that the sailor had been beheaded by Taliban Members.........
