Iraq: Another Senior al Qaeda member Bites the Dust

Release Number: 05-10-113
October 31, 2005

AL QAEDA FOREIGN FIGHTER FACILITATOR KILLED
BAGHDAD, Iraq –

A Saudi-born member of al Qaeda involved in smuggling foreign fighters into Iraq was killed Oct. 29 as he attempted to flee Coalition Forces.

Multiple intelligence sources and tips from concerned citizens led Coalition Forces to a location near Ubaydi where a senior Saudi al Qaeda foreign fighter facilitator known as Sa’ud (aka Abu Sa’ud) would be located. Upon arrival at the location, Coalition Forces attempted to secure the vehicle containing Sa’ud and other terrorists when the driver tried to escape. Coalition Forces shot at the vehicle, killing Abu Sa’ud and three unknown terrorists.

Abu Sa’ud, a Saudi extremist, was a senior al Qaeda terrorist who funneled foreign fighters and suicide bombers into Iraq. Intelligence sources believe that Sa’ud recently arrived from Saudi Arabia to shore up the leadership of al Qaeda in Iraq foreign fighter and terrorists cells whose previous leaders have been captured or killed in recent months.

Coalition Forces were informed that an alleged meeting was being arranged in the coming days in which Sa’ud was to take control of foreign fighter facilitation in the al Qaim and Husaybah region. It was also believed that Sa’ud would take on a more active role in the planning and execution of operations against Coalition Forces.

AubreyJ says: Sad thing is that so many Americans forget this little fact. Read the ‘Tea Leaves’ America... Your President is out there trying so hard to warn and
prepare you for the things to come...
You’re NOT listening.........
Here’s more our President had to say...
“We don't know the course of our own struggle, where it will take us, or the sacrifices that might lie ahead. But we do know, however, that the defense of freedom is worth our sacrifice. We do know the love of freedom is the mightiest force of history.
And we do know the cause of freedom will once again prevail.”

How many have died???

How many have died???

A fast question to our think tank readers out there....
How many have died (since the beginning of the formation of the United States of America) while fighting for this great country of ours... including the Civil War... Indian Wars... World Wars and so on... All the way up to today???
Not a trick question... I have not a clue...
My main point here is this...
Freedom is not cheap...
Not Yesterday... not today... not tomorrow...

Baghdad's Palestine Hotel Targeted for Media Value

The Terrorists recognize the value of the media and Osama Bin Laden’s second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, expressed this sentiment in a letter to Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi just the other week. In this letter (English Version of Letter) al-Zawahiri writes: “I say to you: that we are in a battle... and that more than half this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media. And that we are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of our nation.” So what’s the first major hit al-Zarqawi undertakes... Hitting at the MSM of the World of course...

Iraq: Terrorists Killed in Firefight

Task Force Baghdad soldiers killed three terrorists and detained one insurgent suspected in drive-by shooting attacks Oct. 25, officials in Baghdad reported today.

The terrorists, driving a white sedan, were suspected of several small-arms fire attacks on U.S. and Iraqi security forces over the last few days. Officials said around noon Oct. 25, an Iraqi police van transporting prisoners to the Abu Ghraib detention facility came under small-arms fire in the Ghazaliyah neighborhood in western Baghdad.

One guard was killed, five were wounded and at least two prisoners were wounded when the bus veered off the road and rolled onto its side, officials said.

Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, responded to treat and evacuate the wounded.

Iraqi police spotted the white sedan with four occupants wearing black masks fleeing the scene of the attack. The white vehicle and its occupants were spotted again about an hour later when they fired on Iraqi army forces near the same area, officials reported.

Three hours later in the Khadra neighborhood, soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry, and 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry, spotted the terrorists again and gave chase. The terrorists responded with gunfire and a firefight broke out, which resulted in the killing of two terrorists and the wounding of a third, who was immediately transported to a military medical treatment facility where he later died from his wounds, officials reported. A fourth terrorist was detained.

The vehicle was loaded with three AK-47 assault rifles, a Romanian machine gun, a 9 mm pistol, a fragmentary grenade, 12 AK-47 magazines loaded with ammunition, and more than 150 rounds of linked machine-gun ammunition, officials said. In Taji, north of Baghdad, Task Force Baghdad soldiers discovered a large weapons cache while conducting combat operations Oct. 24, officials said.

The cache contained more than 120 mortar rounds, 49 tank and artillery rounds, eight cases of small-arms ammunition, dozens of rockets, three boxes of mortar fuses, a rocket-propelled grenade warhead and two anti-aircraft gun barrels, officials noted.

Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 13th Armored Regiment, which is attached to 70th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, excavated the stockpile of weapons.
An explosives ordnance disposal team destroyed the cache to prevent its use against coalition and Iraqi forces. Task force soldiers detained 12 individuals for further questioning about the weapons cache.

“...This week, the United Nations Security Council will hear a new report from an independent commission that points to Syrian involvement in the terrorist bombing that killed former Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri, and 22 others last February. Syria is destabilizing Lebanon, permitting terrorists to use its territory to reach Iraq, and giving safe harbor to Palestinian terrorist groups. The United Nations has passed strong resolutions against terror. Glimpse into what we face in this War on Terror

...Based on tenets articulated by Ayman al-Zawahiri, the grand-strategic objective of the Strategy Toward 2020 is for an Islamist-jihadist Caliphate to replace the United States as the world's sole pre-eminent hyper-power. In military terms, the ultimate defeat of the US-led West, in which Russia is a key power, would be achieved as the aggregate impact of two types of war: (1) the attrition of the US and its allies by ensnaring them in a myriad of endless debilitating quagmires, particularly in Iraq, the Caucasus, and Israel; and (2) the demonstration to all of the inherent weakness of the US and the West to be achieved by a series of spectacular strikes at the heart of the US and the West.

AubreyJ says: Very lengthy reads at the links below... but it gives one a good glimpse as to what we face as a Nation in this War on Terror......

>> JIHAD UNSPUN ‘Planning the Great Ramadan Offensive 2005’
>> CENTCOM ‘What Extremists Are Saying’
.....(Be sure to read original English Version of Letter between ZAWAHIRI-ZARQAWI)

“I say to you: that we are in a battle... and that more than half this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media. And that we are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of our nation.”
From letter by Zawahiri to Zarqawi

Now... I have said this time and time again and I still say it to be true... These crazies are coming after us no matter where we fight this war... Better in their world... over there... instead of here at home in our streets, schools, hospitals, government and public buildings....

I too believe in a state-of-the-art border fence being built on our South and in time North Borders... Yet-- We can build all the fences... secure all entrances and highly secure every public and private building in this great country of ours.... But when all is said and done... They’re coming.... It just depends on where we as Americans want to fight this war....
I for one say-- “Not here...”

Just another Operation in Afghanistan

The airdrop of supplies in the morning had fallen far from the mark, leaving water bottles and boxes of food strewn for hundreds of yards across the mountain. The paratroopers had spent the afternoon carrying box after box down from the ridgeline, but several large loads still needed to be transported. With daylight rapidly disappearing, the company seemed to have run out of options.

Luckily, that is when "donkey man" showed up......
