Iraq, Saturday, October 15, 2005:
The big vote on the Iraqis new Draft Constitution is now over...
Turnout was said to have been high in many areas of the country and the level of violence was reported to have been well below that of the past election back in January. Only 13 known incidences with no deaths reported with them today. In contrast-- more than 350 attacks occurred back during the January elections with many deaths.

As I stated in my post from yesterday... Most see this constitutional vote as a critical step towards Iraqi independence and self-sufficiency. And I would also say that it too will be the beginning of the end of the Coalition’s Occupation of Iraq. As the President has said from day one... “As the Iraqi people stand up... so shall we stand down.” Today was truly a very big day for the Iraqi people, the world and for all Americans...

‘Iraq's new charter appeared to receive enough 'yes' votes to pass, despite large Sunni opposition.’
