Moving the War to Iraq

A Very Bloody Sword Our Country Must Hold, No
Matter Where We Fight This War On Terror
(This post on top for next few days – Scroll for Newer Post below)

Part One:
Moving the War to Iraq

One of the best things we did at the beginning of this War on Terror was to move the major part of the war out of the Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India area.

If we had stayed put in Afghanistan... all these crazies would have flooded into that part of the world instead of Iraq. If that had been the case the death toll we have now of a little over 3,000 in the Iraq war would be a very small number compared to the numbers we would have lost had we stayed put in Afghanistan. And I would have to think that the cost of equipment, supplies and such would’ve been tenfold by now too. Let me explain...

Though the terrorist styles and the effects of some of the weapons they use have changed over the last few years... most all their tactics of fighting our forces now days didn’t start in Iraq like so many will try to have you think. It started in Afghanistan back in the 80’s.

Yes... the same kind of tactics out of Afghanistan are being used and approved upon to attack our convoys and troops right now in Iraq. But in the past... the terrorist in Afghanistan were able to take out EVERYONE in those attacks up in the Afghan mountains and valleys. This is not the case in Iraq today though, thank god.

I remember watching a few videos of what they did to the Russian captives back then. Besides for half beating them to death, then shooting them... they would still push some to the ground and cut off their heads while they were still alive... blood squirting everywhere with screams of death and pain clearly heard.

This country of ours would not know how to react to this kind of mass murder of our bravest or how to react to them being killed in this kind of way.

Our country would not be able to handle to easily the large numbers of troops being killed or the numbers of Helicopters being shot down while dropping off and picking up said troops in the higher areas of the Afghan Mountains.

This is not were our helicopters work best and sadly they are way to vulnerable up at those kinds of heights... flying in the middle of that kind of terrain and weather.

If we had stayed in Afghanistan instead of going into Iraq, how many of the following questions would be truths today...?

Would General Pervez Musharraf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, still be in
power? Would he even be alive today? Would there have been a nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India had Musharraf lost power and the terrorist factions of his country taken over? Would the United States of America be at war with Pakistan today? What part of the war would be in India? Would nukes have made it into Osama bin-Laden's hands out of the small but lethal arsenal of Pakistan? Would he have used them by now and if so... were?

I guess the main question would be a simple one... What would it truly look like in Pakistan today if we had not gone into Iraq...? These are things... these are questions you never hear our Politicians or the MSM talk/write about. And it should be part of the ongoing debate.

Let’s continue... If we had stayed in Afghanistan, Saddam would have been emboldened to keep up with Iran and a Nuclear Arms Race in that part of the world would most certainly have been taking place today.

I say this because I cannot help but believe that by now all the embargoes would have been lifted off of Iraq and Saddam would have been freed to do as he willed. Not to forget Saddam’s will to get his Chemical Weapons Program back up and running again and in full swing too.

I still wonder what kind... if any... of a player Saddam might have been during the “July War” last summer. (That was the war between Israel and Hizbollah.)

Something else most over look is the fact that if we had stayed in Afghanistan, Libya would now have been that much closer to having a Nuclear Bomb right now themselves... instead of giving up their programs altogether.
(CNN.com had this story back on Friday, December 19, 2003: Bush official: Libya's nuclear program a surprise)

Yes... I do believe that moving the major part of the war out of the Afghanistan, either intentionally or by fate, was the best thing that could have happened to date in the war on terror. What say you???
