Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announces to reporters in the Pentagon briefing room that he has accepted the resignation of Secretary of the Army Francis J. Harvey on March 2, 2007. Gates told reporters that later today, the Army will name a new permanent commander for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Gates also announced that Under Secretary of the Army Pete Geren will be Acting Secretary until a replacement for Harvey is confirmed.Read the story HERE
