The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Jason M. Butkus, 34, of West Milford, N.J., died August 30th in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.
