The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier, who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Matthew A. Kimmell, 30, of Paxton, Ind. , died in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, on Oct. 11, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. Kimmell was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.
