The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier, who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Jerry L. Bonifacio Jr. , 28, of Vacaville, Calif. , died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Oct. 10, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his checkpoint. Bonifacio was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment, Dublin, Calif.
