The early rush to lease land for drilling in the Haynesville Shale could be over as energy companies step up drilling for the lucrative gas field... Billions of dollars have been raised and spent by companies to buy leases this year. Now those same companies have to drill wells and get production and money flowing...

* The Shreveport Times website brings us some great news on an upcoming Expo this November 21s. (I’ll be there.) It starts off like this... The first Haynesville Shale Expo will be Nov. 21 at the Shreveport Convention Center with expert speakers, 100 exhibitors and technology demonstrations- all to educate the public on the potential effects of the natural gas discovery... The free expo is being presented by The Times, Chesapeake Energy, Devon Energy, EnCana Energy, Petrohawk Energy and XTO Energy. The chambers of commerce within the shale area will be hosts for the event, which is expected to attract thousands from northwest Louisiana and east Texas... "This event is key to realizing winning results across the board for neighborhood groups, landowners, families and businesses," said Debra Lindsey, senior vice president of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, one of the regional hosts. "It will provide a great opportunity for the public to get factual information about all aspects of gas drilling, production and leasing, and the impact it will have on them."...
