DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died February 2nd in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle.

Killed were:
Capt. Kevin C. Landeck, 26, of Illinois. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
Staff Sgt. Terrence D. Dunn, 38, of Houston. He was assigned to the 210th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died February 2nd in Taji, Iraq, of wounds suffered when their Apache helicopter was forced to land during combat operations. Both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. The incident is under investigation.

Killed were:
Chief Warrant Officer Keith Yoakum, 41, of Hemet, Calif.
Chief Warrant Officer Jason G. Defrenn, 34, of Barnwell, S.C.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Randy J. Matheny, 20, of McCook, Neb., died February 4th in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1074th Transportation Company, Sidney, Neb.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Cpl. Richard O. Quill III, 22, of Roswell, Ga., died February 1st from a non-hostile cause in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Quill was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Seven Killed as Marine Helicopter Crashes in Anbar Province

February 7, 2007
All seven crewmembers and passengers were killed when a Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter went down in Iraq's Anbar province this morning, a senior U.S. military officer based in Baghdad confirmed today.

Army Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV, Multinational Force Iraq spokesman, told reporters the helicopter went down about 20 miles northwest of Baghdad.

The helicopter and its crew were conducting routine operations, military officials said. The servicemembers' names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Caldwell would not comment on the possible causes of the incident. "The investigation is going on as we speak," he said. A quick reaction force team had arrived at the crash site, he added.

Hospital for the next 2-3 days

Hello everyone...
I’ll be posting little to none for the next few days. My wife Amy has a blocked artery in her right leg, (side effects of a Heart Cath procedure she had last October,) and has to have surgery to fix the problem and get the blood flowing correctly again. She will be in the Hospital for 2 -3 days. Surgery time is between 10-10:30am in the morning, (Tuesday.) For family and friends... she will be at WK (Willis-Knighton) Pierremont Health Center.
I’ll update when I can...

We are home now and Amy is doing just fine. We want to thank those for the calls and prayers... It meant a lot to us both...
