Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is VP Pick for John McCain

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin
is VP Pick for John McCain

All of those in the know of the MSM are reporting that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been confirmed by a Senator McCain Campaign Official as the VP pick.

************************************************
.
I send out my congratulations to Sarah Palin as the official VP pick of Senator John McCain.
Congratulations Sarah!!!
.
****************************

...
.
My Friends,

I am honored to announce that I have chosen Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska as my choice for the Republican nominee for Vice President. As a father with three daughters, I can't express how proud I am to choose the first female Republican Vice-Presidential nominee.

Sarah Palin is a trailblazer and a reformer. As the first female governor of Alaska, she challenged a corrupt system and has been a tireless advocate for reform - passing a landmark bill on ethics reform. She has taken on the old politics in Alaska and reformed the state's energy industry. She rejects wasteful pork barrel spending. She's fearless - exactly the type of leader I want at my side and the type of leadership we will bring to Washington.

My friends, together Sarah Palin and I make the strongest presidential ticket and I know that she joins me in asking for your support as we head into our Convention week in Minnesota. We're shaking things up in this campaign - and Governor Palin and I are ready to bring real reform to Washington.

The polls indicate this will be a tight race as we head into the fall campaign against Senators Obama and Biden. I expect the polls to remain close all the way up to Election Day and that is why
any help you can give today will go a long way to make history on November 4th.

You may already know that I have decided to accept federal matching funds for the final months of this campaign- keeping a campaign promise I made. But that means that August 31st marks the last day I can accept your primary contribution.
Will you make an immediate donation of whatever you can give- whether it's $50 or $500 to ensure Governor Palin and I win in November?

You can be assured that as President and Vice President, Governor Palin and I will always put country before all else. We are ready to lead and I ask that you join our campaign today. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Sincerely,
John McCain

Just a short thought:
All this past week the Dems have been trying to paint Senator McCain as being nothing more than another GW Bush. Well... they are going to have hell trying to paint Governor Sarah Pulin as a Dick Chaney!!!

You just KNOW the Dems are freaking out over McCain’s VP pick!

Barack Obama hits out at McCain, President Bush and the Republican Party

Well it is finally over and now it’s our turn. I can’t wait until next week!

Now... what did I think of Barack’s speech tonight? I’d have to say -- ‘Just Words... Just Speeches!’

I’ve heard so many people say it was a Historic Speech Obama gave tonight... but I didn’t think so. Then again... we will have to leave that one to the eyes of the beholder.

Barack Obama did come out tonight swinging against McCain, President Bush and the Republican Party. But all I saw on stage was a man that speaks well... promises everything... yet does so in an empty suite.

The way I see it... Barack Obama isn’t a new man of Hope, but a new man who’s just plain dangerous.

Yes... I truly do believe that one Barack Obama is a danger to this country and cannot be allowed to step into the White House as President. NEVER.........

Biden's Exaggerations

Thursday, August 28, 2008
Here’s a great read I found today on Karl Rove’s website. It starts off like this... The Democratic National Convention exposed the central defect of Senator Barack Obama's candidacy: the absence of compelling evidence he is up to the job of president. The exposé comes courtesy of a bad habit of his running mate, Senator Joe Biden. When in doubt, Mr. Biden exaggerates. And in the past week, he did a lot...

ALG to MIA Senate Republicans: Join the Filibuster and Support Energy Exploration

Thursday, August 28, 2008
.
File Photo by DoE

August 28th, 2008, Fairfax, VA- Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today called upon eleven Republican Senators to join with their GOP colleagues and support efforts to block a renewal of the moratorium on offshore drilling, oil shale and natural gas exploration.

The current ban on off-shore drilling, natural gas and oil shale exploration off the Outer Continental Shelf is scheduled to expire on October 1st.

In order to ensure that Democrats will not reauthorize the ban on much needed energy exploration, Senate Republicans need to acquire 41 votes to filibuster, and only have 38 on the record in favor...

Senators Collins (R-ME), Corker (R-TN), Dole (R-NC), Hagel (R-NE), Kyl (R-AZ), McCain (R-AZ), McConnell (R-KY), Smith (R-OR), Snowe (R-ME), Specter (R-PA), and Thune (R-SD) have yet to pledge their support for the filibuster...

“These eleven GOP Senators are all that is standing in the way of the will of the American people,” said Wilson in a statement. “We urge them to do the right thing.”

“The American people have made their voices heard time and time again. Offshore drilling and increased energy exploration is something the citizens of this country are demanding and it is time these Republicans wake up and realize this,” he added.

A couple of Republican Senators who did not initially sign on to the filibuster have come around and decided to listen to the people. Senators Coleman (R-MN) and Chambliss (R-GA) have recently pledged their support for increasing offshore energy exploration.

Wilson praised the two Senators, saying, “Coleman and Chambliss have done what they were elected to do: listen to the people and serve the greater need of the country. It is reassuring to know that there are still leaders in Washington who are steadfast in their willingness to do what is best for our nation.”

Congress is set to reconvene after the August recess where it is expected that the Democrat-controlled House and Senate will attempt to reauthorize the current bans on energy exploration and recovery.

“We simply cannot let Congress continue to restrict Americans from accessing their own energy resources,” Wilson remarked. “Americans have had enough of paying such high prices at the pump and they have also had enough of negligent politicians ignoring their wishes.”

Wilson stated, “It is time for Republicans to show solidarity on this matter and provide some much-needed leadership. There is obviously a vacuum of competent leadership on Capitol Hill and it is time these remaining Republicans join with their colleagues and help fill that void.”

“If they stand united, they will achieve a crucial victory for hard-working Americans nationwide,” he added.
From a News Release by Americans for Limited Government - President Bill Wilson

**********************************************

After Congress comes back from August Recess, I’ll be making a few phone calls to these eleven GOP Senators in hopes of getting them to come on board with their GOP colleagues and support their efforts to block the renewal of the moratorium on offshore drilling, oil shale and natural gas exploration.

I ask you to do the same...

I for one have a problem with it when the MSM keeps reporting that Senator Barack Obama is the first African American ever nominated by a Major Party as their Presidential Candidate.

He is not...

He is part African American... part Caucasian...
who has a white mother, black father and is married to a black women.

To be correct... one would have to say that he is the first ‘Multiracial’ American ever nominated by a Major Party as their Presidential Candidate.

In the ad Boone talks about how the Iranians are moving quickly to vehicles powered by natural gas so they can free up their $120 a barrel oil to sell to us. Boone says: “Get this one. Iran is changing its cars to run on natural gas and we’re not doing a thing here…”

* Let’s get caught up with the Haynesville Shale News by starting off with this news article I found early Monday morning at the 2TheAdvocate.com website. It starts off like this... The discovery of the Haynesville Shale - a huge natural gas cache in north Louisiana - pumped nearly $100 million into state coffers this month... More money is expected in September when state government takes bids on the lease of 11,000 acres of land within the shale’s 16-parish zone...The state is raking in millions. More revenue is expected from tax collections and royalties. And northern Louisiana lawmakers are brainstorming about how to keep at least some of the dollars in what is one of the poorest areas of the state...

State’s share of shale soaring - Gas discovery means millions
.
* DailyWorld.com had the following report up on their website Sunday and it starts off like this...
Producing natural gas from the Haynesville Shale is not as simple as drilling a hole in the ground, says Don Briggs, head of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association... Unlike most places, the gas is not trapped in reservoirs. It's in small vertical fissures in the horizontal bands of shale that have to be fractured by intense water pressure pumped 12,000 feet underground...

Retrieving Haynesville Shale gas presents challenges
.
* Just in case you missed the first reports out a few weeks back... the following link at the 123Jump.com website has a summary of the second quarter fiscal 2008 earnings call conducted by Chesapeake Energy Corp. on August 1, 2008. It’s a very lengthy... informative read and it goes in part like this...

On average every square mile of Core and Tier 1 Haynesville Shale contains an average of 180 BCF gas in place.

This is based on an average formation thickness of 220 feet across this 3 million acres, original formation pressure of almost 10,000 pounds per square inch, and porosity, permeability, and water saturation measurements. From that gas in place Chesapeake will recover about a 52 BCF per square mile through the drilling of eight wells per square mile. This would result in per well average recoveries of about 29% of the gas in place, which is consistent with expected Barnett recoveries although Barnett drilling is 50% more dense than planned Haynesville drilling. This is a smaller recovery factor than expected from the Woodford and Fayetteville.

With about 3 million acres in the Blob, there’s roughly 4,700 square miles in the Haynesville.

At 52 BCF of recoverable gas per square mile, that equals about 2.45 BCF of recoverable gas in the Haynesville, exactly consistent with what Chesapeake had predicted from the beginning. So rather than this number being hype, it is instead an entirely reasonable number based on thorough scientific examination reinforced by actual drilling results to date. These are reasonable early estimates of the total resource that Chesapeake and others plan to produce over time...

Post Update:
Wednesday, August 27, 2008

* The Independent Weekly has this news article posted on their website this morning and it starts off like this... Due to the explosion of activity in the Haynesville Shale, the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association has hired one of Gov. Bobby Jindal's former policy advisers, Jodee Niswanger, to serve as its north Louisiana director. She's heading the trade organization's new office in Shreveport , which opens Sept. 1 to address issues related to what many believe may be the largest natural gas shale play in the country... LOGA President Don Briggs says the talk of the town throughout the northwest Louisiana region is money, with rumors of $25,000 lease bonuses and quarter royalties. His office receives calls every day from residents in the shale region wanting to know when drilling will begin in their areas, and some residents have been forming coalitions that are considering filing suit against natural gas and exploration companies that paid lower bonuses in the early stages of the project. Briggs hopes the local office can educate people about the process, including the fact that lease values are mainly based on speculation -- and that someone who only got $150 an acre may end up in a sweet spot and receive millions in well revenue... "Although lease values seem to be escalating with no end in sight," says Briggs, "it would take just one dry hole to condemn a large area, and lease values in that vicinity could drop like a stone."...

* MoneyMorning.com has this good read up on their website today and it starts off like this... After declining for 15 years, U.S. natural gas production is finally on the rise, thanks to new technological developments that make it possible to draw large amounts of gas from deposits previously thought to be unreachable. An increase in natural gas production of the magnitude many industry insiders predict could do wonders for business, the environment and even U.S. energy independence... U.S. gas production is up 9% this year - a rate of increase not seen since 1984 - with most of that gain coming from natural-gas shale, particularly the Barnett Shale, a deposit that now produces 7% of the country’s gas supply. Indeed, there could be as much as 842 trillion cubic feet of retrievable gas in shale deposits throughout the United States alone, according to Navigant Consulting. That would support the current level of U.S. consumption for about 40 years...

Iraqi Air Force bids farewell to Iowa Guardsmen
Tuesday
, August 26, 2008

Soon a group of Iowa National Guardsmen will be leaving Iraq and leaving behind a legacy of training and friendship with their Iraqi Air Force partners.

“This day I would like to say goodbye to our dear friends who gave serious assistance and backup for our air force,” said Lt. Gen. Kamal, IqAF commander. “They did a major job to build our new Air Force.”

“We would like to thank their families, said Kamal. “Because they were so patient waiting for them to do their duties here. Our salute to their families to wish them all the best happiness and joy.”

Six months ago the six volunteer Soldiers from Det. 1 of 1/134 sustainment and support unit came from Waterloo, Iowa, and surrounding areas. They brought a fleet of U.S. Army OH-58C “Kiowa” helicopters and the know-how to keep them flying. These Soldiers and aircraft formed the training base for much of IqAF’s expansion this year.

The OH-58C has an airframe similar to the Bell Jet Ranger helicopters that are also used by the Iraqi Air Force as training aids for new pilots. Iraqi mechanics learned to maintain the OH-58C, and Iraqi pilots learned the basic flying skills they need to fly the Russian-designed Mi-17 that is IqAF’s main combat helicopter.

“This is my office,” said U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Marshall Lantz, one of the Iowa Guardsmen as he pointed to an OH-58C.

“I spent six months here. Five months with the actual aircraft. It was pretty rough duty. It was starting at eight in the morning until noon to do dailies and fix what the pilots broke. Go back take power naps, be back on the flight line at six and go to eleven, twelve, one two o’clock in the morning for night flights. That went on six days a week for four months. That was our routine.”

Lantz has been working with the OH-58 for 32 of the 36 years he’s been in the Army. Before that he was a combat engineer. He didn’t work on the Kiowa during the Vietnam War, but recalls, “they flew over my head.”

As if to signal the completion and success of the Guardsmens’ mission, an Iraqi pilot made his first solo flight in the OH-58C with an Iraqi trainer. This was the first time an all-Iraqi crew flew the American helicopter.

The groups, known as Awakening Councils, Sons of Iraq and Popular Committees, have helped rout al-Qaida in some parts of Iraq. * BlueRidgeNow.com website had this take on the story... The Shiite-dominated government in Iraq is driving out many leaders of Sunni citizen patrols, the groups of former insurgents who joined the American payroll and have been a major pillar in the decline in violence around the nation... In restive Diyala Province, United States and Iraqi military officials say there were orders to arrest hundreds of members of what is known as the Awakening movement as part of large security operations by the Iraqi military. At least five senior members have been arrested there in recent weeks, leaders of the groups say... West of Baghdad, former insurgent leaders contend that the Iraqi military is going after 650 Awakening Members, many of whom have fled the once-violent area they had kept safe. While the crackdown appears to be focused on a relatively small number of leaders whom the Iraqi government considers the most dangerous, there are influential voices to dismantle the American backed movement entirely... “The state cannot accept the Awakening,” said Sheik Jalaladeen al-Sagheer, a leading Shiite Member of Parliament. “Their days are numbered.”... The government’s rising hostility toward the Awakening Councils amounts to a bet that its military, feeling increasingly strong, can provide security in former guerrilla strongholds without the support of these former Sunni fighters who once waged devastating attacks on United States and Iraqi targets. It also is occurring as Awakening members are eager to translate their influence and organization on the ground into political power...

"This time we will vote. There is no doubt. We have to assert our rights," said Ahmed Hakim al-Samarraie, a 28-year-old biology lecturer in the Samarra College of Science... It's a dramatic turnaround in attitudes from four years ago when Samarra residents who had pledged to vote were cowed by Al-Qaeda bullying, threats and wholesale murder...

* The following is from an email I got this morning from Barack Obama. It goes in part as follows:

Friend --
.
I have some important news that I want to make official.
.
I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.
.
Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.
.
I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.
.
Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:
