DoD Identifies Navy Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Lt. Jeffrey A. Ammon, 37, of Orem, Utah, died May 20th, as a result of injuries suffered from an improvised explosive device in the Aband District, Afghanistan. The sailor was attached to Commander Navy Region Northwest, Bangor, Wash., and serving in Afghanistan as a member of Provincial Reconstruction Team Ghazni.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Howard A. Jones, Jr., 35, of Chicago, died May 18th in Chicago from injuries sustained when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while on leave from the Iraq Theater of operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

Hello everyone...

Internet service went down this past Wednesday night and I didn’t get it back up and running again until Saturday evening...

Comcast is SLOW on fixing their crap when it breaks. That’s why there isn’t a chance in hell I would ever have their telephone service. One might not have service for a week or more if something goes wrong on the lines or in the system.

Comcast does have some good people working for them but it seems to me they have more than they can handle ¾ the time.

Anyway... I’ll be back at full speed Sunday sometime...

Some 10,000 Iraqi troops fanned out in Baghdad’s Sadr City on Tuesday in an attempt to establish government control in the Shiite militia enclave for the first time since Saddam Hussein’s ouster. Success relies on whether a truce holds with fighters loyal to anti-US Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. The large force in tanks and Humvees and on foot met no resistance from al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army militia as it rolled into the sprawling district. The Iraqi soldiers and police passed burned out shops and buildings pockmarked with bullet holes — signs of years of clashes — but many stores were open, and some residents came out to greet them. Some Mahdi Army fighters passed out copies of the Holy Quran to the soldiers as a sign of goodwill... It was a stark contrast to a government offensive against Shiite militias in the southern city of Basra launched in late March. That assault sparked a wave of Mahdi Army violence across the south and in Sadr City that was only eased by cease-fire deals in mid-April...

I’m sure you all have heard the sad news that came out yesterday that Senator Ted Kennedy was Diagnosed with having a Malignant Brain Tumor.

It’s been reported that his Doctors said the test conducted this weekend after Senator Kennedy was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure unfortunately showed a tumor in his left parietal lobe of the brain.

His Doctors also said that treatment for this type of tumor, malignant glioma, usually includes a combination of various forms of radiation and chemotherapy.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Senator Kennedy and his family.

1st Lt. Jeffrey F. Deprimo, 35, of Pittston, Pa., died May 20th in Ghazni, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 103rd Armor Regiment, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Williamsport, Pa.

Lt. Col. Joseph A. Moore, 54, of Columbus, Miss., died of natural causes May 20th in Djibouti. He was assigned to the 124th Wing, Idaho Air National Guard, Gowen Field, Idaho.
