* Local12.com of Cincinnati has this take on Sunday’s protest… A group calling itself "The Cincinnati Tea Party" wants to get the word out about what it calls wasteful government spending. As part of their call, thousands of local residents took their anger to Fountain Square Sunday. Local 12's Angela Ingram was there when the square was packed with people protesting what they see as a waste of millions in taxpayer money…

Air Force Responds to Boeing Protest

Washington - The Air Force today has received a copy of Boeing's formal protest on the KC-45A contract award, recently submitted to the Government Accountability Office.

It is the company's right to formally submit a protest. The Air Force will carefully evaluate the protest, defend our source selection decision and allow the GAO to make its final decision.

In order to protect the integrity of the procurement process, the Air Force does not publicly comment on the merits or specifics on any issues under review.

Proposals from both offerors were evaluated thoroughly in accordance with the criteria set forth in the Request for Proposals (RFP). The proposal from the winning offeror is the one the Air Force believes will provide the best value to the American taxpayer and to the warfighter.

The Air Force followed a carefully structured process, designed to provide transparency, maintain integrity, and promote fair competition. The Air Force and the offerors had hundreds of formal exchanges regarding the proposals throughout the evaluation process. The Air Force provided all offerors with continuous feedback through discussions on the strengths and weaknesses of their proposals. Several independent reviews assessed the process as sound and thorough.

Iranian Women Protests

The United States is deeply concerned by reports that Iranian authorities attacked peaceful women’s rights protestors in Tehran today at a gathering to mark International Women’s Day. These repressive actions by the regime highlight an alarming trend of intolerance toward the expression of independent views by the Iranian people.

The regimes actions today follow the beatings and arrests of more than 30women earlier this week. Those brave women had gathered outside a courthouse in Tehran to show solidarity with five women on trial for organizing a June 2006 protest against gender-discrimination laws.

The United States stands with the women of Iran, who courageously struggle for their universal rights and justice in their country. We continue to work with the international community through the United Nations, foreign governments, and international NGOs to focus attention on the Iranian regime's abuse of its own citizens. We call on the Iranian government to improve its own human rights situation before more Iranians suffer for attempting to exercise their universal rights and freedoms.
