Syria Today: On Ground Updates - March 19, 2013

Wednesday, March 19, 2013
.

Today’s news of a possible chemical attack out of Syria is a big question mark right now but no matter how we look at it, it is some very troubling news. Here’s what some in the MSM are reporting this early Tuesday afternoon…

...............................

.
* CBS NEWS brings us the following report and it starts off like this…
The Syrian government accused rebels of firing a chemical weapon for the first time on Tuesday in the north of the country, killing at least 25 people in the war-torn Aleppo province. Rebels quickly denied the report and accused regime forces of firing a chemical weapon on a long-range missile… Neither of the accusations could immediately be verified, and a chemical weapons expert in the U.K. told CBSNews.com there was very little evidence to suggest any actual chemical weapons had been deployed…

.
* USA Today has this reportThe Obama administration has no evidence to back up a claim by Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime that the U.S.-backed Syrian rebels used chemical weapons, the White House said Tuesday… A U.S. official told the AP there was no evidence either side had used such weapons Tuesday in an attack in northern Syria, disputing a competing claim by rebels that it was regime forces who fired the chemical weapon… The origin of the attack is still unclear…

.
* The Guardian reports it this way…
Syria's information minister, Omran al-Zoabi, says Syrian rebels fired rockets containing chemical agents on Tuesday. He says the attack breaches international law, and says President Bashar al-Assad's forces would never use chemical weapons. The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says at least 26 people died in the attack near Aleppo, but the use of chemical weapons has not been confirmed…

My bet’s on it didn’t go down as reported… Or in other words, it wasn't a chemical attack…

Syria Today: On Ground Updates - March 06, 2013

Wednesday, March 06, 2013
.
The last time I looked and according to the United Nations, more than 70,000 souls have been killed over the last two years during the revolt against Syrian President Al-Assad.
.
Nearly two years ago it all started with peaceful protesters on the streets but it wasn't soon after that Assad’s murderous forces cracked down hard on the demonstrators and started murdering them by the 1,ooo’s.
.
The senseless murder by President Al-Assad’s forces on the innocence continues today… not to be left out the million Syrians who have fled their war-ravaged country and are seeking assistance in other countries…

* BBC had the following report, with news video, Tuesday afternoon and it goes in part like this.  Unverified video footage purported to show at least two explosions hitting the city centre square, shortly after crowds had toppled a statue of former Syrian President Hafez al-Assad… People were seen fleeing in panic, with casualties scattered on the ground…The cameraman is heard to say: "War plane shelling... God is greater than you, Bashar [al-Assad]... The injured have fallen."…

* The Huffington Post had this report posted on their website Tuesday afternoon and it starts off like this… Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday the Obama administration is confident that the vast majority of weapons being supplied to Syrian rebels by U.S. allies are going to moderates and not finding their way to extremists…

* The New York Times had the following report posted on their website this Wednesday afternoon and it starts off like this… Syria’s civil war entangled the United Nations peacekeeping operation in the disputed Golan Heights area between Syria and Israel on Wednesday, when 30 armed fighters for the insurgency detained a group of 20 peacekeepers investigating a damaged observation post, the United Nations said… It was the first time that members of the Golan peacekeeping mission, officially known as the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force, had been detained by any of the combatants in the Syrian conflict, although the Golan region has been periodically affected by armed clashes and occasional artillery or mortar bombardments that have become a source of concern to Israel…

* The Huffington Post has the following report/news video for us today, click it out below…

The number of Syrians who have fled their war-ravaged country and are seeking assistance has now topped the 1 million mark, the U.N. refugee agency said Wednesday, warning that Syria is heading toward a "full-scale disaster." The announcement came as government troops and rebels fought street battles in Syria's strategic northern city of Raqqa. The Syrian military dispatched reinforcements in an attempt to push out opposition gunmen who now control most of the city, activists said…

9/11, How Soon We Forget - September 11, 2012

9/11, How Soon We Forget
-- Sorry, This video removed until this time next year --
This video produced/posted on YouTube by me, Aubrey J Fawcett
My YouTube page - AubreyJ818
Please read this first before watching…
(NOTE: I’ll be taking this video down during the day on 9/12/2012 and will not repost it again until this time next year)
.
I made the above video/slide back in 2004 on the events of 9/11 the day… and as time slowly passed, up to one year later. I would first like to tell you how this video came to be…
.
I was running down some music to use on my family website that I use to have up… and at the time was looking in a place I used from time to time that had GREAT midi files that a very talented man name Dan West wrote and composed.
.
That’s when I ran across his latest work that he had written and composed himself in memory of the victims of 9-11. His song was titled “Heartbreak Blues” and Dan had put it up on his website for all to listen too.
.
Anyway… to make a long story short… Dan’s music inspired me so… that I wrote him and asked his permission to use his music in a video/slide project I was wanting to work on and he was kind enough to say OK. And that I still thank him for.
.
Ok then… about the video. The very first part is put together pretty much in a perfect timeline as the events unfolded that tragic day on 9/11/2001. Then I go back and forth in time with the rest.
.
The 2nd part, “Goodbyes”, after the credit roll, starts off at the footprints of the Twin Towers, one year later. It was early that morning on 9-11-2002 and the family members of the ones that lost their lives along with others came to say goodbye one more time.
.
The morning went from a calm clear morning at first then to being very windy and a dust storm whipped up. Some of the family members who were there said it was as if their loved ones had come down from heaven to say their last goodbyes too. Many said a chill was in the air and that a strange calm came over them.
.
After the first few pictures I move back and forth in time from days after 9-11-2001, as people from around the world mourned the dead and this tragedy to one year later, back at the footprints of the towers.
.
Why did I make this video some might ask? Well… I mainly made this video for my family and friends to watch once a year... and being you are reading this right now… you MUST be one or the other!!!
.
So again… this video/slide that I made is actually a 2-parter. The 1st part I call “9/11… How Soon We Forget”. Then after the credit roll is the 2nd part that I call “Goodbyes”. So be sure to watch it to the end.
.
Now for the record, I could have gone very graphic with this and almost did at first. But in the end, I keep away from doing so for I wanted it to be able to be seen by both adults and children alike. Regardless, I still made it strong enough to get the point across as to just how violent and emotional of an event this really was.
.
9/11, how soon we forget
No other words needed

In memory of all those that lost their lives that tragic day...

“I believe that the truth must be said, the international community is not drawing a clear red line for Iran, and Iran does not see international determination to stop its nuclear program,” Netanyahu said. “Until Iran sees this clear red line and this determination, it will not stop its advancement of the Iranian nuclear program.”

* USA Today brings us the following AP report that starts off like this… Israel's prime minister on Sunday urged the international community to get tougher against Iran, saying that without a “clear red line,” Tehran will not halt its nuclear program. The tough language from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reflected differences that have emerged between Israel and its allies, particularly the U.S., over how to deal with Iran…

TimesUnion.com had this AP report posted on their website Saturday… Israeli officials said on Friday that a new United Nations report adds credibility to their warnings about Iran, as tensions grow between the Jewish state and its allies over how to tackle Tehran's suspect nuclear program… The report by the U.N. nuclear agency, which emerged on Thursday, concluded that Iran had stepped up the installation of centrifuges capable of making weapons-grade material in an underground bunker at its Fordo underground facility, safe from most aerial attacks…

* Recordnet.com has this column by Charles Krauthammer posted on their website this Monday morning that starts off like this… There are few foreign-policy positions more silly than the assertion without context that "deterrence works." It is like saying air power works. Well, it worked for Kosovo; it didn't work for North Vietnam… It's like saying city-bombing works. It worked in Japan 1945 (Tokyo through Nagasaki). It didn't in the London blitz… The idea that some military technique "works" is meaningless. It depends on the time, the circumstances, the nature of the adversaries. The longbow worked for Henry V. At El Alamein, however, Montgomery chose tanks…

* RightSideNews.com had this posted on their website Sunday and it goes in part like this… Each year since the 1979 revolution, the Iranian regime marks international Jerusalem (Quds) Day on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan. As in previous years, the Iranian leadership called for the destruction of Israel and of “world Zionism,” as demonstrating masses shouted: “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” during rallies and addresses by the leadership…

* CSMoniter.com had this very troubling report posted on their website Friday afternoon and it starts off like this… The United Nations nuclear watchdog agency’s latest estimates of progress in Iran’s uranium enrichment program are a guarantee - if there was ever any doubt - that Iran, and Israel, are two foreign policy issues that aren’t going to sit on hold until after the US presidential election…

* USA Today brings us the following report and it starts off like this… Israel is unlikely to provide much if any advance notice to the United States if it attacks Iran's nuclear facilities, Middle East experts say… Advance warning is important because a surprise could hurt the United States' ability to respond and safeguard its many assets in the Persian Gulf… The assumption is that U.S. warning of an Israeli attack would come "significantly less than an hour" before it began, said Jon Alterman, director of the Middle East program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "How much of that would come from Israeli notification and how much would come from sensors we have in the region, I don't know."…

* JPost.com has this report this late Thursday afternoon and it goes in part like this. In a possible sign of further Iranian defiance in the face of such pressure, several sources said Iran had put in place additional enrichment centrifuges in its Fordow facility, buried deep inside a mountain to protect it against enemy strikes… One source suggested hundreds of machines had been installed… In another development likely to worry the West, they said satellite imagery indicated Iran had covered a building at a military site which UN inspectors want to visit with a brightly-colored, tent-like structure…
