The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Matthew Soper, 25, of Kalamazoo, Mich., died June 6th in Bayji, Iraq, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1461st Transportation Company (Combat Heavy Equipment), Michigan Army National Guard, Jackson, Mich.
