The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Alicia A. Birchett, 29, of Mashpee, Mass., died August 9th in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related accident August 8th in Baghdad. She was assigned to the 887th Engineer Company, 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. The incident is under investigation.
