Hurricane Dean Update

Around 3:30am CDT... Category FIVE Hurricane Dean made landfall on the East Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico...

As of 5:00 AM AST the center of Hurricane Dean was located near Latitude 18.7 North... Longitude 87.8 West... or about 35 miles East-Northeast of Chetumal Mexico and about 195 miles East-Southeast of Campeche Mexico.

Hurricane Dean had Maximum Sustained Winds near 165 MPH with higher gust and Dean made landfall as a Category Five Hurricane. Although some weakening is forecast as Dean crosses the Yucatan Peninsula… Dean is expected to maintain Hurricane strength throughout the next 24 hours.

Hurricane Force Winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center and Tropical Storm Force Winds extend outward up to 175 miles.

The Minimum Central Pressure was recorded by a Hurricane Hunter Plane at 906 MB... 26.75 Inches just before landfall this morning.
