* Let’s get caught up with the Haynesville Shale News and we start off with this short report posted on the NewOrleanscityBusiness.com website, July 12th. It starts off like this... The Louisiana Mineral Board collected $48.7 million in July, surpassing last month’s record payment of $35.8 million... “It appears that with the Haynesville Shale discovery underway, several major companies are validating their intentions to develop and produce natural gas in a big way,” said Mineral Board Chairman and Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle. “The state’s energy production figures look to be on the upswing this year.”...

The Barnett Shale, sprawled across 18 counties in north Texas, is more than a bountiful source of natural gas. It's the granddaddy of a modern shale frenzy that has companies racing to nab drilling rights from the Rockies to the Appalachians.

The recent success of two local governing bodies in getting millions of dollars through mineral rights leasing has other agencies in northwest Louisiana taking inventory of their property... But no one is stripping a gear to beat a deadline although big dollar signs are looming ahead with this corner of the state sitting on top of the Haynesville Shale — touted as perhaps the richest natural gas field discovered, so far, in the nation and maybe fourth largest in the world...
