Lebanon is teetering on the edge of all-out civil war despite a fragile truce between the Hezbollah-led opposition and the US-backed government... At least 36 people were killed in fierce clashes on Sunday between Hezbollah gunmen and supporters of pro-government Druze leader Walid Jumblatt in mountains east of Beirut... More than 80 people have been killed and 250 wounded in violent clashes since last Wednesday and hopes that a political compromise to avert any further escalation in the fighting are slim...

Fighting broke out in northern Lebanon again Monday as politicians wait for an Arab League delegation to arrive to try to broker a settlement between supporters of the government and the Hezbollah-led opposition... Arab League foreign ministers issued a statement Sunday urging a ceasefire between warring Lebanese factions... The delegation is expected to arrive in Lebanon in the coming days. Beirut airport remains closed due to barricades set up by Hezbollah...
