POST 9-11

Do you Remember???

-We had anthrax attacks in the U.S. in December of 2001.

-Richard Reid tried to blow up a U.S. airliner with a shoe bomb.

-During the spring and summer, there were deadly attacks in Tunisia and Pakistan.

-In October 2002 al-Qaida leader Ayman Zawahiri released a tape recording stating “God willing, we will continue targeting the keys of the American economy.”

-In September and October, the FBI broke up the Lackawana Six cell in New York.

-On October 6, 2002, al-Qaida attacked a French oil tanker off the coast of Yemen, an attack that harkened back to the killing of 17 service members on the USS Cole.

-On October 8, 2002, al-Qaida gunmen shot and killed a US Marine in Kuwait.

-On October 12, 2002, al-Qaida affiliate Jemaah Islamiya bombed a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia, killing more than 200 and injuring about 300.

-On November 28, 2002, al-Qaida fired two anti aircraft missiles at a Boeing 757 aircraft flying from Mombassa, Kenya to Israel; suicide bombers also attacked the Paradise Hotel in Mombassa, Kenya killing 15 and injuring 40.

-On December 30, 2002, three U.S. citizens were killed in Yemen during an attack on Baptist Missionary Hospital.

And the list keeps going on and on and on……………………
But HEY… We aren’t at War, so many will say. Let’s bring everyone home and close down Guantanamo Bay. Let’s just tell the world it was just one great big mistake on our part and we have now seen the light and will return to the days as it was before September 11, 2001. That should make everyone in the world and at home like us again… RIGHT??????
Than What??????????
You and I both know the answer to that one and it is not a pretty one either………
I’ve said it once and I will say it over and over again………
9-11… How soon we forget.

There are people in this country that think our government is the problem, not the terrorists. We can debate about what methods we use to stop our enemies, but how can we debate about not doing anything at all? And yet, that's what I keep hearing from certain people--bring home the troops, close up shop, war's over. Oh, and impeach Bush.

And you know what's sick? If and when they hit us again here at home (and I pray that they don't), all these same people will accuse Bush of not doing enough to protect us.

It's a shame.

Alan, I’m with you on all of the above. I would like to add that more than likely the next big attack will be overseas and not over here in the States. I’m not talking about a train, boat, car or anything like that getting blown up but something more in the line of 9-11 and those kinds of numbers in death and destruction. If and when this happens (and like you I pray that it doesn't,) then and only then will we see a shift in the attitudes of so many at home and abroad. It is truly amassing as to just how many people, not just in this country but all over the world, truly do think our government is the problem, not the terrorists. Now that is SAD.
