President Obama says he's confident Senate will pass health care reform after the House passed its bill Saturday night
Sunday - 1:45pm CST
.
* FOXNews.com has the following report posted up on their website this early Sunday afternoon and it starts off like this... President Obama expressed confidence Sunday that the Senate will "take the baton" and approve sweeping health care reform legislation, after the House narrowly passed its version Saturday night... The president, in brief remarks from the Rose Garden in Washington, said the 220-215 House vote brings the country closer than it's ever been to a health care overhaul. Obama said the "historic" passage marked a "courageous vote" for many representatives, given the toxicity of the debate surrounding the bill, and predicted that lawmakers will view the eventual signing of the legislation as their "finest moment" in public service...

* Yohoo.com has the following AP report posted up on their website early this Sunday afternoon... Speaking from the Rose Garden about 14 hours after the late Saturday vote, Obama urged senators to be like runners on a relay team and "take the baton and bring this effort to the finish line on behalf of the American people."... The problem is that the Senate won't run with it. The government health insurance plan included in the House bill is unacceptable to a few Democratic moderates who hold the balance of power in the Senate...

House health care bill has nowhere to go in Senate

* CBS’s Face the Nation website has the following article up on their website and it starts off like this...

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the health care bill passed last night by the House of Representatives is “dead on arrival to the Senate.”... Graham argued that the House bill was "written for liberals, by liberals... "Just look at how it passed; it passed 220 to 215. It passed by two votes. You had [39] Democrats vote against the bill," Graham told "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer Sunday... He also admitted that if it were to come down to it, he would join his independent colleague Senator Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., in filibustering a bill including the so-called public option should it come to the Senate floor... "The House bill is a non-starter in the Senate," he added. "I just think the construct out of the House and what exists in the Senate is not going to pass, and I hope and pray it doesn't because it would be a disaster for the economy and health care," Graham concluded...
