I Hate Polls…

Yes sir… I really do hate those things. So much in fact that I did a little post, just on Polls a little while back and it started off like this………

All these Polls being thrown around lately don’t mean RAT!!! In other words, no
matter what your political point of view is, you can find something in one Poll
or another to make you want to run outside and shout--“Told ya so!!!” These
Polls of today are just useless. Even Sec. Rumsfeld has a good quote about them…
“We’ve all seen polls go up and down. If you chase those… you just get
seasick!!!”
Now to me, it’s plain to see how the left leaning media uses these things to do all the damage they can to President Bush and his policies. Funny how when the chips are down, these media folks can’t get enough of these negative polls. This poll has Bush down by this and that Poll has the war down by that…. Kind of sounds like pre-elections last year doesn’t it???

Yet it’s funny how the media NEVER does this Poll crap when the chips are up!!! Tell me a time when you’ve seen the major news folks going crazy over giving you the news on any good Poll numbers??? You haven’t. (Well... They’ll give them to you... but not that often.)

But right now… Over and over and over again, how many times have you heard about the BAD POLLS pursay???? Yeah… That’s what I thought… Makes me sick too….

With this said, as in the last post, I’ll again say this. There is only one Poll Question that needs to be asked and it goes like this: “Should we finish the job in Iraq or should we bring the troops home?” Real simple question with real simple answers… FINISH THE JOB or BRING THE TROOPS HOME. That POLL by the way says-- FINISH THE JOB…
(Don’t see that being brought out much though do you???)

What gets me is that ANYBODY would believe ANY poll. They must know that they are filled with lies?

What were the actual questions asked and what demographic was targeted? Two questions you will never see answered with the doom and gloom polling results.

Those that quote the polls must be either living in denial or purposefully atempting to decieve...

OR incredibly ignorant. (See how nice I am. I didn't say stupid.)

Surely you can't believe that the polls are truly meaningless? The truth is we have a problem with Iraq and things need to get better. It got very little press but yesterday the major of Baghdad was thrown out in a coup...Things are bad, but the fight is not lost . . . yet.

Interesting read on your blog and at the New York Times. Your right, it got very little Press. It just goes to show... that politics, at its best and worst is going on over there in Iraq. The way I read it though was that the Mayor was PO’ed and ready to quit anyway… More or less......

Right, polls can be very misleading. You can pretty much get the respondents to answer the way you want based on how you structure the questions and word them, also demographics, sample size, and even the order of questions can make a difference.
A good book on this topic is called "Mobocracy: How the Media's Obsession with Polling Twists the News, Alters Elections, and Undermines Democracy" by Matthew Robinson.
