**This should be a fun day on this one so I'll make an Open-Ended Post out of it**
******************* OPEN-ENDED POST START ********************
10:01am EDT- It's a done deal... John Bolton is now the official US Ambassador to the UN.
“The United States Senate held thorough confirmation hearings, and a majority of United States senators agree that he is the right man for the job. Yet, because of partisan delaying tactics by a handful of senators, John was unfairly denied the up or down vote that he deserves. As a result, America has now gone more than six months without a permanent ambassador to the United Nations. This post is too important to leave vacant any longer, especially during a war and a vital debate about U.N. reform. So today I've used my constitutional authority to appoint John Bolton to serve as America's Ambassador to the United Nations. John Bolton will be an important member of my State Department team, led by Condoleezza Rice.”
President Bush

** Democrats scream FOUL!!! **
“For President Bush to use a recess appointment for such a controversial nominee – not because there was a compelling case that Mr. Bolton was the best person for the job, but merely because the President had the power to do it – subverts the confirmation process in ways that will further harm the United States’ reputation in the eyes of the international community. The American people deserve better.”
House Democratic Leaded Nancy Pelosi

"The abuse of power and the cloak of secrecy from the White House continues. ... It's a devious maneuver that evades the constitutional requirement of Senate consent and only further darkens the cloud over Mr. Bolton's credibility at the U.N."
Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass.

Now is the time for the Dems to leave the new Ambassador alone and for him (John Bolton) to get to work and live up to the President's expectations…

Thanks Gindy. I would have to add that Bolton has the full trust of this President and that should be first and foremost… 2nd-- He has the full trust of our Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, his other boss I would think….. 3rd-- This was 98.5% BS of the Dems to start with… I’ve said it over and over again… 2006 is coming soon enough…
